Character Building on Persistence – CLICK TO COMMENT

By Raizy Cohen  Closer. Almost there. As soon as I touched the blue brick I panicked. I felt as if I was asphyxiating, so I shot up as fast as I could. This was the sad sequence of events every single time that I had life guarding. I had been trying each Wednesday to retrieve a 10 pound brick from the bottom of the pool, but success seemed to elude me.
By May, I was losing hope and conviction, so I took responsibility for my own motivation. I just kept telling myself that success was in my reach and that I was holding myself back. I kept at it and finally, after several months and countless attempts, I succeeded. Looking back, I don’t regret all of the time that I spent trying over and over to get that brick. It was through this experience that I learned that if I really try and believe that I can succeed, amazing things can happen.
